Author: Philippart, Caroline

Biography:

PHILLIPART, Caroline formerly HARVEY (1777-1862?: findmypast.co.uk)

Although her husband, John Philippart, has an entry in the ODNB, it does not mention his wife and little certain information has been discovered about her aside from her marriage in 1812. It is likely that she was born in Tynemouth, Northumberland, to Mark and Catharine Harvey but she was married at London. John Philippart was a military writer and she drew on his work for her Muscovy. The couple had two daughters (although even that is not certain: Julia Philippart is well-documented, but Catherine, with whom she was living in Romford when she died, is known only from the 1861 Census and John Philippart’s will left money only to Julia). She was estranged from John Philippart at the time of her death. (ancestry.co.uk 25 Aug. 2020; findmypast.co.uk 25 Aug. 2020; contributions from AA)
