Comment According to a Preface dated from London in 1834, the author had died shortly after completing this work. It is often attributed to Elizabeth Hitchener, who had published enigmas (Fireside-Bagatelle) with Darton in 1818. But she died in or about 1822 and her father was not a clergyman but an innkeeper.
