| Comment | Has been attributed to Thomas Hill (1760-1840), on what grounds is not clear--perhaps because he was to be caricatured as "Paul Pry" in the comedy of that title in 1825. But Hill (ODNB) was not known as a writer and this poem is sophisticated. A "Peter Pry" was author of a satirical political print in 1808. |
