WINTER, Anna Maria (1773-1837: ancestry.co.uk)
She was the second surviving child born to Samuel Winter (1741-1811) of Agher, County Meath, Ireland, and his wife Margaret Robbins (1735-1814); they had married in 1762. Her elder brother, John Pratt Winter, author of Observations on the Temper and Spirit of the Irish Nation (1803) and of the letter which prefaces Anna Maria Winter’s Thoughts on the Moral Order of Nature (1831; 3 volumes), was born in 1768. She was born on 10 Sept. 1773. Nothing is known about her education. Her Thoughts on the Moral Order of Nature seems to have circulated widely. In addition to the work listed here, she published The Ideal Confidant: a Poem (1836). Winter died of influenza on 21 Jan. 1837 at home in Lower Sherrard Street, Dublin. She was buried at Agher Church in the Winter family vault.
