Author: Willey, Eli B.
Biography:
WILLEY, Eli B. (fl 1812-14)
His title-page provides most of the information available about him; US army records yield a little more. The rest is less reliable. He enlisted in 1813, served in the War of 1812 as an infantryman, at first with the 2nd Regiment under Captain Burnap and later in the 31st. In Dec. 1817 he was awarded a grant of land in Hancock Co. ILL. He also had a pension, which his widow Mary petitioned for after his death (but the date of death is not clear). She might have been the Mary Graves who married Eli Willey in a C of E ceremony in Shipton PQ in 1821, and he might be the Eli Willey who was born in 1795 and was resident in Brome PQ at the time of the 1871 Census, but that is not certain.
