Author: Webber, Samuel

Biography:

WEBBER, Samuel (1797-1880: ancestry.com)

The son of Rebecca Dana (Smith) and Samuel Webber, he was born in Cambridge MA. His father, a mathematician, was made President of Harvard in 1806 but died in 1810. The younger Samuel himself graduated AM from Harvard in 1815 and went on to study medicine, earning an MD in 1822. In 1823 he married Ann (or Anna) Winslow Green of Charlestown NH. They lived in Charlestown the rest of their lives and had at least four children. It is not clear whether Webber practised medicine after his marriage, but he pursued antiquarian studies and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Northern Antiquarians of Copenhagen later in life. He died in Charlestown and was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery there. (ancestry.com 14 an. 2021; Appleton; findagrave.com 14 Jan. 2021) HJ
