Biography:
WATSON, Thomas (b c. 1816: Poems)
As his title page says, he was a gardener at Lasswade, Midlothian. No genealogical records that can be definitely linked to him have been located. “The Author’s Address to his Book” states that he was nineteen when the book was published. He had at least one brother, William; he was educated at the local parish school; and he began to write verse when he was fifteen. Some of his poems humorously depict places and customs in Lasswade.
