Biography:

WALL, William Ellis (1803-74: ancestry.co.uk)

He was baptised 16 August 1803 at Claines, Worcestershire, the son of William Wall (1766-1844), a wealthy banker, and Elizabeth Williams (1778-1862), who had married the previous year at St. John’s, near Worcester. The family lived in a large country-house style residence in fashionable Foregate Street, Worcester, and later at St. Anne’s Hill, Great Malvern. He was educated at Trinity College Oxford (BA 1825, MA 1830) and intended for the church and although recorded as clergy, seems never to have held a living and is listed in the censuses as “without cure of souls.” He married Fanny Eliza Williams (1816-75) on 8 Sept. 1835 at St. Andrew’s, Enfield, Middlesex. They had two sons. He died on 1 May 1874 at Wheatfields, Powick, Worcestershire, leaving an estate of £80,000.
