WAIBLINGER, Catherine (1770-1845: findmypast.co.uk)
She was born 9 Nov. 1770 at the Moravian settlement of Fulneck, the daughter of Christian Frederick Waiblinger (1735-1798), a surgeon and apothecary, and his wife Sarah Sinkinson (1739-1801). From about 1803, she ran a Ladies Boarding School at St. Peter’s, Bedford, in partnership with a Miss Cox. Her Metrical Lessons (1823) probably grew out of her teaching experiences. She was also active in promoting Moravian Mission schools, most notably at Gracehill in Co. Antrim. By 1841, she was head of the Moravian Settlement Ladies School at Ockbrook, Shardlow, Derbyshire, with an assistant and around 15 pupils. She died, aged 75, in Manchester in 1845.
