Author: Thomson, Thomas D.
Biography:
THOMSON, Thomas D. (fl 1835)
A clue to his identity is his book’s dedication to his brother, Andrew Thomson of Bonside. Bonside or Bonsyde is in Linlithgow, West Lothian, and was for many years in the Thomson family, so Thomas may have been born there, possibly in 1788. Andrew, a surgeon in the East India company, was born in 1786; Sir Charles Wyville Thomson, a naturalist, was his son. Given the book’s subject, it is possible Thomas was a clergyman. However, records on genealogical sites have not been conclusively linked to him and he seems not to have published anything else. (ODNB for Charles Wyville Thomson 10 Dec. 2021) SR
