Author: Thomson, Thomas D.
Biography:
THOMSON, Thomas D. (fl 1835)
A clue to his identity is his book’s dedication to his brother, Andrew Thomson of Bonside. Bonside or Bonsyde is in Linlithgow, West Lothian, and was for many years in the Thomson family, so Thomas may have been born there. His parents may have been William and Margaret Thomson; if so he was baptised on 18 Mar. 1787 in Bo'ness. Andrew, a surgeon in the East India company, was born in 1786; Sir Charles Wyville Thomson, a naturalist, was his son. Religion includes some shorter poems, two of which were previously published in an unidentified Edinburgh periodical. A second edition of the book was issued in 1839.
