Biography:

THOMPSON, Abraham (1740-1821: ancestry.com)

He was born and died in New Haven and appears to have lived there all his life, though his occupation is not known. He was the son of Abraham Thompson and his wife Mary Alling. He married Rachel Warner in 1758 and with her had at least one child, a son, also Abraham. A marriage is recorded for "Abraham Thompson, Jun." at the First Church of Christ (Congregational) in New Haven in 1770 which can hardly have been his son's wedding, therefore it seems very likely that he had remarried after the death of his first wife. The Poems of 1790, which he advertised for sale from his house on Broad-Way (Broadway), was his only published work. (ancestry.com 24 Nov. 2020; findmypast.com 24 Nov. 2020)
