Author: Thom, Archibald

Biography:

THOM, Archibald (fl. 1789-1812)

He was from Renfrewshire and may be the Archibald Thom who was born at Inverkip in 1766. He wrote the preface to Poems on Several Occasions, co-authored with J. Ballantine (q.v.), and says that some of the poems were written when he was fifteen. It is not known if he is the same Archibald Thom who published Amusements of Solitary Hours at Kilmarnock in 1812, but it seems likely.
