Biography:
TARRAS, William (b 1781: ancestry.co.uk)
One of his poems, “Epistle to a Friend,” is dated Mar. 1803 from Strichen, Aberdeenshire, and gives his age as twenty-one. He was probably the William Tarras baptised in Strichen on 13 Sept. 1781, son of John Tarras and his wife Anna Keith. One poem, to his bellows, indicates that he was probably a blacksmith. His poems are written in the Buchan or “Doric” Scots dialect and the book includes a glossary. Although an Ancestry tree gives his year of death as 1868 no record has been located.
