STRAFFORD, Henry Thomas (1798-1828: ancestry.co.uk)
He was baptised on 16 Mar. 1798 at Pentrich, Derbyshire, the son of Henry Strafford and his wife Elizabeth Bradley, who had married in 1790. Nothing is known concerning his education. He married Susan Elizabeth Palmer on 2 Feb. 1825 at St. Mary Islington, London. They had two sons and a daughter. They went to live in Belper, Derbyshire. In Directories and at the baptisms of his sons, his occupation was given as Music Master. He died, after a short illness, at his residence in Bridge Street, Belper, on 13 Feb. 1828 and was buried at Pentrich. A small volume of his verse was published posthumously and exists in a single copy at the Kohler Collection, UC Davis. After his death his widow probably returned to her family home in Holloway, London, to give birth to their daughter, Elizabeth, in October of the same year. She then went back to Belper and lived another sixty years as a widow. She died at Netherlea, Holbrooke, Derby in 1887, aged 80.
