Biography:
SMITH, Eunice (1757-1823: ancestry.com)
She was born in Ashfield MA, the daughter of Mary Sarah (Moody) and Chileab Smith. Perhaps because her first religious pamphlet (Some Arguments Against Worldly-Mindedness, 1791) was surprisingly successful, she continued to publish as "Eunice Smith" even after her marriage to Benjamin Randall Jr. (1742-1828) in 1792. Of four such works printed and reprinted in the 1790s, typically in the form of dialogues, only the last (Some Motives to Engage, 1798) includes verse. When she married him, Randall was a widower with nine children; they also had a son together. They were resident in Shelburne MA at the time of their deaths and both are buried in the South Cemetery there. (ancestry.com 24 Sept. 2020; Blain; ESTC; findagrave.com 24 Sept. 2020) HJ
