Biography:
SMALLPIECE, Anna Maria, formerly ROGERS (1766-1842)
She was the eldest of three daughters of John Rogers and his wife Ann Bird. It is unclear where they were born but they spent their youth in Woburn and Wokingham. (They were identified in the will of Thomas Rogers of 1821.) Anna Maria married John Smallpiece (1759-1838), an orange merchant, at St. Mary, Islington, on 23 Dec. 1786 with her father’s consent (she being a minor). In 1791 Smallpiece traded in Pudding Lane but he eventually moved to premises in Fish-Street Hill. They had four children. Her sisters Elizabeth and Catherine married surgeons from Woburn and Wokingham. The Smallpieces retired to Wiltshire Farm, Wokingham, where John Smallpiece died, aged 80, on 11 Jan. 1838. Anna Maria died, aged 76, on 21 May 1842.
