Biography:

SLEIGH, Isabella, formerly MORRELL (1791-1818: findmypast.co.uk)

She was born in London in 1791, the daughter of Peter Michael Morrell and his wife (first name unknown), sister of the Rev. Edmund Butcher, of Sidmouth. No baptism or parents’ marriage record has been traced. She married William Sleigh (1784-1861), a Methodist minister since 1807, on 8 June 1815 at South Petherton, Somerset. They had two children, William Morrell (1816) and Joseph Roswell (1818). She died of typhus on 1 Oct. 1818 and was buried at Helston, Cornwall, three days later. Her husband prepared her Poems (Barnstaple 1819) for publication and prefixed a memoir, with the misprint of 21 October for her date of death.
