SELDEN, Almira (1798-1841: ancestry.com)
She was born in Bennington VT where her ambitious collection of poems was published. Her parents were Andrew and Charity Selden. In 1826 she married Orrin Edgerton (1801-49), who may have been a cousin, and they had four children, two of whom died in infancy. There are no further publications and they stayed out of the newspapers. They were living in Buffalo NY at the time of her death. A few of the poems in Effusions, being written in the form of theatrical scenes, have occasionally been reprinted and analysed as drama.
