SCOTT, W. (fl 1826-27)
The author of The Guardian Spirit of the Port is identified as W. Scott in the Abbotsford catalogue. The catalogue also lists a copy of The Kail Wife; or, A New Supply to His Majesty, edited by W. Scott, Leith, [Midlothian, Scotland], which is claimed on the title page of The Guardian Spirit. (No other copy of The Kail Wife has been located and it may be in prose.) Likely the author had sent both works to Walter Scott (q.v.) but no correspondence from him seems to have survived. No biographical information that can be linked with any certainty to this author has been found. SR
