Biography:
ROWELL, Nathaniel (1781-1827: ancestry.com)
He was born in Hopkinton NH, the son of Nathaniel and Judith (Morse) Rowell. He qualified as a physician and set up practice first in Brookhaven, Long Island, and then, from 1810, in the new village of Clarkson in Monroe County NY. He stayed there the rest of his life, taking on various leadership roles in the community (school commissioner, "pathmaster" responsible for roadways, JP), and is buried in West Clarkson Cemetery, Brockport NY. His wife Sarah (or Sally) died in 1830. Their son Hopkins Rowell arranged for the posthumous publication of his father's writings.
