ROBERTSON, John (1779-1831?: MM)

The son of Christian (Dudgeon) and John Robertson, he was born at Oldhamstocks, East Lothian. Aged about fourteen, he went to Glasgow to train as a weaver. He married in 1801 (wife’s name unknown) and in 1815 he moved to a weaving factory at Dunbar. In the preface to his book he says that within seven years of the move, his wife and four of their children had died. The date and place of his death are uncertain. (MM; ancestry.co.uk 8 Sept. 2020)
