Biography:

ROBERTSON, George (1795-1880: ancestry.co.uk)

Born in Savannah GA, he was the son of George Robertson who may have been a furniture maker. His mother’s name is not known. From about 1821 he was editor of the Savannah Georgian which he tried to keep non-partisan. His wife’s first name was Ann; they had at least one child (also named George). He died at Blackshear GA and was buried in the cemetery at Savannah. Although there appears to have been just one edition of The Columbian Lyre, in 1828, the copy in the NYPL differs from others in listing Robertson’s poems as anonymous.
