Biography:

RICHINGS, Rebecca, later BOUSFIELD (1790-1869: ancestry.co.uk)

She was born 28 Nov. 1790, the daughter of Thomas Richings (1755-1793), a breeches-maker and glover of Warborough, Oxford, and his wife Mary Haynes (1759-1822); they had at least twelve children. She married William Cheek Bousfield (1797-1841), a London solicitor, on 27 Dec. 1819 at Whitefriars, Warborough, and had at least 10 children. Her mother died at their house in Bouverie Street, off Fleet Street, in 1822. She dedicated her first volume, Elijah (1818) to her brother Benjamin, Vicar of Mancetter, Warwickshire. A later volume, Poems on Scriptural Subjects (1823), is listed in Stainforth and WorldCat, but no copy has been located. After her husband’s death in 1841 she returned to Warborough, where she died on 3 Mar. 1869.
