Biography:

QUIN, Thomas (d 1831: findmypast.co.uk)

He was a classics master in Maldon, Essex, but no certain information has come to light about his birth or education. He was the Thomas Quin who married Hannah Tyrrell in Holy Trinity church, Rayleigh, Essex, on 3 July 1818; they had three daughters and two sons whose births were registered at Dr. Williams's Library, London. His other works are Collectanea Latina (1822) which identifies him on the title page as “Master of the Classical and Commercial Academy, Maldon, Essex,” and Principia Latina (1826) which gives his place of occupation as the Grammar School, Maldon. His will, made on 13 Dec. 1830, directed his executors to sell his school and to use the proceeds for the benefit of his widow and children. If his wife were to remarry, she was to be given one third of his estate with the rest being shared among the children. No record has been located but he died in Jan. 1831 and the will was proved on 20 July. (findmypast.co.uk 27 Aug. 2020; ancestry.co.uk 27 Aug. 2020) SR
