PRICE, Rose Lambart (1799-1826: ancestry.co.uk)
He was born on 4 July 1799 at Ampton Hall, Suffolk, and baptised on 6 Aug., the eldest son of Rose Price, baronet (1768-1834) and his wife Elizabeth Lambart (1782-1826), youngest daughter of Charles Lambart of Bean Park, County Meath, Ireland, who had married in 1798. In addition to Ampton Hall, the family owned an estate at Madron, Cornwall. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford, (matric. 1817) and then entered the army, serving as 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Marines in Ireland and later the 78th Highlanders. He married, on 26 Jan. 1824 at Desart House, Kilkenny, Catherine Cuffe (formerly O’Connor), Countess of Desart (1798-1874). They lived at Callan, Kilkenny, from where he signed the prefaces to the works listed here.
