Author: Price, James H.

Biography:

PRICE, James H. (fl 1813)

The author's prefatory note in his only book (Albany NY, 1813) indicates that most of the poems in it were "juvenile productions" composed during leisure hours when he was studying law. Therefore his birthdate should be about 1790, or 1795 at the latest--possibly earlier if the poems were not published shortly after being written. There was a JP of this name resident in East Hampton, Long Island, in the middle of the nineteenth century but his dates are 1800-1870 so he is ruled out. All that can be said for certain is that the author had studied law and was resident for a time in New York State.
