POULTER, Louisa Frances (1792-1863: ancestry.co.uk)
She was baptised on 6 Apr. 1792 at Saint Maurice, Winchester, the daughter of the Rev. Edmund Poulter (1758-1832) and his wife, Ann Bannister (1753-1832). Her mother had been born in Antigua where her family had land and slaves. Her father was one of many conservative clergy who opposed the French Revolution and its supporters in Britain. Her brothers entered the army or church. She published Imagination (1820), followed by a revised edition with additional poems inspired by travel to Italy (1841) and a knowledgeable anthology of English religious thought, A Treasury of Great Pearls of Great Price (1854). She died, aged 71, 9 Aug. 1863, at home in 50 Cumberland Street, Marylebone, from tuberculosis and was buried at Kensal Green.
