Author: Parsons, Mary
Biography:
PARSONS, Mary (fl 1819)
There is no certain biographical information other than what can be learned from her book. The title page declares the book to be “published for the benefit of the author” and the Preface is evidently written by an unidentified editor. Parsons is said to be “in the humblest sphere of life” and “entirely destitute of the advantages of education.” She had been confined to a sick bed for nineteen years. Although Ancestry documents a Mary Parsons born in London c. 1780 who was frequently admitted to and released from London workhouses, these records cannot be conclusively linked to the author of this book.
