Biography:

PARSONS, Eliza Dwight Willard (1790-1855: ancestry.com)

Biographical records are sketchy but show that she was the daughter of the Rev. John Willard, Jr. and his wife Huldah Langdon, and was born perhaps in Stafford CT. She married George Parsons of Enfield CT in 1819 and settled with him in Troy NY. They had at least three children but in her poems Parsons refers to the deaths of "children" and it is not clear whether the three recorded survived or not. A few of her poems had been published previously in periodicals. She gathered subscribers for the 1826 volume from among "the ladies of Troy," literary gentlemen, and friends in New Hampshire and Vermont. She hinted that she contemplated further poetic work, "domestic circumstances" permitting--but none appeared. She died in New York City. (ancestry.com 12 June 2020)
