Author: Park, Gratiano
Biography:
PARK, Gratiano (fl 1799)
Only one work is ever associated with this author: Affectation, a literary satire, focused on the stage, that makes fun of several successful contemporary poets and performers. No record of any kind has been found for a person named “Gratiano Park” and it is possible that it is a pseudonym. The name persists, however, through reviews and works of reference. The Anti-Jacobin Review and MR pointed out how short the poem is but were fairly respectful about the quality of the verse. (MR 32 [1800], 95; Anti-Jacobin Review [1800], 206-8) HJ
