PALMER, Mary (1775-1800: ancestry.com)
Almost all the biographical evidence about Mary Palmer is contained in the volume edited by her brother Azel. She was born to religious parents, Mary (Allen) and Eleazer Palmer, in Windham CT. By her own account (she began an autobiographical memoir which is used as an introduction to the book), she had a limited education and, until she was eighteen, sought after normal worldly pleasures. But then she had a conversion experience--described briefly by her brother as a vision of God--which enabled her to endure the following six years of illness with Christian fortitude. It was at her request that her writings were held back until after her death. (ancestry.com 8 June 2020; Mary Palmer, Miscellaneous Writings)
