Most of what is known of this child prodigy comes from the memoir introducing her volume of verse. She was born and is buried in Duxbury MA, the second child of Mercy (Alden) Packard and her husband Captain Henry R. Packard. After she started high school at the age of twelve, a teacher encouraged her literary interests. She fell ill on her sixteenth birthday and died a few months later, leaving the manuscript of a tragedy and poems that were published by the family after her death.
