NISBET, W. (fl 1780)
All that is known of him is from his book: the poems were written when he was about sixteen, he studied at the University of Edinburgh, and he received help in preparing the poems for publication from Thomas Blacklock and Henry Mackenzie (qq.v.). He also thanks Sir James Foulis and Andrew Dalzel, professor of Greek at the University of Edinburgh. The book is dedicated to George Inglis of Redhall and one of the poems is about Redhall which is located in Colinton, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The Inglis family had close associations with Henry Mackenzie. SR
