NILES, Aaron (1751-77: ancestry.com)
Niles reveals his authorship in an acrostic at the end of his one small book of verse. He was born on 30 Apr. 1751 in Colchester CT, son of the Rev. Nathan Niles and his first wife, Mary (Sexton) Niles. The eldest surviving child in a large family, he served in the Revolutionary War, in which he may have been taken prisoner.
