MURRAY, Thomas (fl 1821)
Ferdinand of Switzerland: a Dramatic Romance (1821) was produced by a printer with premises on the Lambeth Road in Southwark, London—the only clue to the identity of the author, who therefore appears in some library catalogues as Thomas Murray of Lambeth. No better evidence has come to light, and the work does not appear to have been advertised or reviewed. It seems most unlikely that the dramatist was Thomas Murray (1792-1872), a writer on Scottish history and political economy who does not appear ever to have left Scotland. SR
