Biography:

MOULDER, Joseph (1780-1816: ancestry.com)

A native of Philadelphia, he died there of a fever in 1816. The best information about him comes from the sermon preached at his death by Henry Holcombe, the Baptist minister of the congregation to which Moulder belonged. Holcombe describes him as as "perfect" a man as imperfect mortals can be. He had a liberal education, was accomplished in languages and music, and was a beloved "son, brother, friend." He seems to have been in business; he was not married. The sermon was published along with his literary remains, the proceeds going to the Philadelphia Bible Society; it contains a frontispiece portrait. (ancestry.com 15 Apr. 2020; Funeral Sermon)
