Biography:

MORRISON, Fielding (b c. 1800-1844: Cork Examiner)

He was the youngest of four sons born to Sir Richard Morrison, member of the Royal Irish Academy and vice-president of the Royal Institute of Architects, and his wife, Eliza (Ould), grand-daughter of Sir Fielding Ould, eminent Irish physician. John Morrison (q.v.) was one of his brothers. The family lived in Clonmel but moved to Dublin at about the time of his birth. He studied at Trinity College Dublin (BA 1821, MA 1825), and became a clergyman. He served as curate at Carnallway, County Kildare, before being appointed Vicar of Corcomohide in the Diocese of Limerick in 1827. In 1841 he was appointed to serve as one of the chaplains to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He seems never to have married. He died on 15 Nov. 1844 at Southampton “on his return from France.”  (Waterford Mail 24 Nov. 1827; Belfast Commercial Chronicle 27 Oct. 1841; Cork Examiner 27 Nov. 1844; DIB for Richard Morrison 14 July 2021)
