MORISON, David (fl 1790-1824)
There is no reliable biographical information but ancestry records indicate a possible birth year in Montrose of 1764. His book is dedicated to the gentlemen of the Montrose Monthly Club and includes a list of subscribers. BAM comments on the resemblance of the book to the Kilmarnock edition of Burns’s poetry in all aspects but the quality of the verse. The book divides in two; the second half, with a title page from 1790, is a three-act opera, Jack and Sue; or, the Fortunate Sailor. The opera was reprinted at Paisley in 1824.
