Biography:

MCKISSEN, Robert (1786-1857: ancestry.com)

He was born in Indiana County PA to Letitia (Caldwell) and James McKissen. (The surname is sometimes given as M'Kissen.) The volume of poems printed by subscription in 1820 is his only publication. He married Ellen Patterson, they had two daughters, and he became a respected citizen of Warren PA. When Warren was renamed Apollo in 1848, he was named one of the commissioners in charge of elections. One record refers to him as "Doctor McKissen," but in the Federal Census of 1850, his occupation is given as "merchant." He died far away in Davenport IA and perhaps was living with one of his children by then. (ancestry.com 2 Jan. 2020) HJ
