Biography:

MCINDOE, George (1771-1848: PP)

Born on 16 Dec. 1771 in Partick, Lanarkshire, he was the son of George McIndoe and his wife, Elizabeth (Anderson) and baptised on 17 Dec. He became a silk weaver in Paisley, a hotel-keeper in Glasgow, and an inventor (of a machine for adding designs to muslin). He played the fiddle and some of his songs were printed in local publications. McIndoe married Ann Barr on 24 June 1792; it is not known if they had children.
