Biography:

MCINDOE, George (1771-1848: PP)

Born in Partick, Lanarkshire, he was the son of George McIndoe and his wife, Elizabeth (Anderson). He was a silk weaver in Paisley, a hotel-keeper in Glasgow, and an inventor (of a machine for adding designs to muslin). He played the fiddle and some of his songs were printed in local publications. He seems to have remained unmarried, but information is sparse. He died at Glasgow. (PP; ancestry.co.uk 11 May 2020)
