Author: McBean, Thomas

Biography:

MCBEAN, Thomas (fl 1830)

Sometimes spelled MacBean but clearly Mc on the title-page of his only known collection of verse, Thomas McBean identifies himself there as “Esq.,”  a gentleman. There is no record of his attendance at either university. He appears to have been reflective and pious, and a Londoner: several poems celebrate local sites such as the graveyard of St. Margaret’s, Westminster; Richmond Hill; Primrose Hill; and Kensington Gardens. No public records have been found to make a convincing match.
