Author: Mason, Ann

Biography:

MASON, Ann (fl 1803)

The little pamphlet of poems appears to have been a local community project and may have been printed for private distribution: there is no title-page on either of the known extant copies. It records the death of three children aged from 16 months to 17 years old, all in the Clark family and all victims of an outbreak of "putrid fever." An additional poem from Joseph Blodget (q.v.), the minister in Greenwich MA, addressed to the parents, consoled them with the thought that although God had taken three of their children, he had left eight. No further information is available about Mrs. Mason. HJ
