MACKAY, Alexander (fl 1821)
He was, as stated on the title page, the butler at Moy Hall, the ancestral home of the chiefs of the Mackintosh clan. The preface states that Mackay was a native Gaelic speaker for whom English was a second language. Dedicated to the Marquis of Huntly, the book has eighteen pages of subscribers’ names with the list headed by the Duke of Gordon. No other biographical information about Mackay has been located. SR
