Biography:

Lyons, James Gilborne (d 1868: WBIS)

He was born in Ireland and graduated from Trinity College Dublin: BA in 1836, LLB in 1838, and MA and LLD in 1842. He was ordained as an Anglican minister, then emigrated to America in 1844. At first he served as pastor of St Mary's Church in Burlington NJ. But he moved to Philadelphia in 1846 and turned to teaching; eventually he established his own boarding-school in Haverford PA, where he spent the rest of his life. In Philadelphia he had his 1831 volume of verse reprinted and published two more. A final, posthumous Selections from the Sermons and Poems (1868) includes a memoir. His wife, Mrs. L. H.
