Biography:

LUCK, W. H. (fl 1811)

The schoolboy writings of W. H. Luck do not seem to have been noticed by reviewers when they appeared, nor to have led to further literary efforts. Apart from the fact that he had attended a boarding school run by Mr. Power at Ashford in Kent, nothing certain is known of him. He might have been the William Henry Luck who was privately baptised on 28 Aug. 1791 in the parish of Redenhall with Harleston, Norfolk, the son of Sarah (Garner) and William Luck, a woollen draper, who had been married in the same church on 26 Aug. 1787. No other public records, census or other, can be linked to him with confidence. He might have died in Bedfordshire in 1853 or in Sussex in 1856, but those look possible only because they use both his first names and the number of plain William Lucks in the country are too many to consider.
