Biography:
LOCHART, Hamilton (d 1835: ancestry.com)
His surname is spelled variously Lochart, Lochard, Lockhart, and Lockart. As the title-page of his book indicates, in 1806 he was teaching school in Sadsbury township, Chester County PA. He is probably the man of that name who married Susannah Keetch of Marlborough PA at West Chester PA on 23 Nov. 1799. (No baptismal records have been found for children.) He may be the Hamilton Lochart who wrote to Andrew Jackson in 1826 reflecting on the recent election. Other public records indicate that he was born in the UK, emigrated to the US, and was naturalized as a citizen in 1807. Census documents for Sadbury between 1814 and 1821 give his occupation as "blue dyer" or "weaver." He died and was buried in the graveyard of the Upper Octorora Presbyterian Church at Parksburg PA in 1835.
