Author: Llewellin, Henry

Biography:

LLEWELLIN, Henry (1780-1831: findmypast.com)

The author was one of at least three generations of men of the same name who in their time occupied the same address, 29 Noble St., Cheapside, City of London. He was baptised on 20 Sept. 1780, the son of a wafer-gilder, Henry Llewellin (d 1812), and his wife Ann whose birth name is not known. He became an attorney with a practice, at first in partnership, at Clement’s Inn, but the partnership was dissolved in 1808 and after the death of his father he maintained his office at Noble St., as did his son Henry (b 1806), a solicitor, after him. The date of his marriage to Mary Perrott is not known; their son Henry was baptised as an adult on 15 Sept. 1827. Llewellin’s will of 1821 (probate 25 Feb. 1831) left everything to his wife with particular provision for “her dear lame Boy my Son Harry,” to whom Llewellin also left his own mother’s gold watch. The estate was relatively modest (“small property”) and the family “afflicted,” so no other bequests were made. Llewellin died on 1 Feb. 1831; his son edited the posthumous pamphlet selection of his poems.
