Biography:

LINDSAY, David (c. 1486-1555: ODNB)

A prior author whose Ane Satyre was performed in 1552 but not published. He was the son of David Lyndsay of Fife and was educated at the University of St. Andrews. He became usher to the future King James V (q.v.) and was knighted in 1529, becoming Lyon king of arms or chief herald. He married Janet Douglas of the king’s household. Lyndsay served on diplomatic missions for the king but he retired to his estate in Cupar in 1543. His wife predeceased him. (ODNB 30 Apr. 2021) SR
