LAWRIE, Andrew (d 1794: Caledonian Mercury)
His surname is sometimes given as Laurie. He was probably born in Edinburgh in about 1730 but no records have been located. He was a schoolmaster and, at the time of his death on 1 Aug. 1794, his occupation was given as writing master. For forty years Lawrie was the precentor at the Tolbooth Kirk in Edinburgh.
