JUDSON, Roswell (1769-1835: findmypast.com)
The son of Ann (Mills) and Colonel Agur Judson of Stratford CT, he graduated from Yale in 1787 and won a scholarship to stay on and study law for three years. He had a law practice in Stratford. He and his wife Sarah (maiden name not known) had at least two children, but a daughter died in infancy and a son suffered from a mental disorder. Judson himself is said to have been both insane and alcoholic in his later years. He died at Huntington CT on 1 Mar. 1835. Apart from the one occasional poem in this bibliography, his publications consisted of polemical pamphlets, mainly in a dispute about universal salvation.
